The Municipal Engineers of the City of New York is proud of its 119-year heritage in supporting the critical needs of the City by promoting Engineering and Architectural disciplines and advancing the highest standards in municipal projects. As a member of the Municipal Engineers of the City of New York, you are encouraged to partake fully in our activities including:
- At least seven monthly membership meetings and lectures which are typically held on the 4th Wednesday in the months of January through May, September and October. The September lecture is the Wimmer Memorial Forum and Reception. Notifications of these lectures are sent to your email address two weeks prior to the event. Membership pins are presented to new members at the monthly membership meeting before the beginning of the lectures.
- Periodic field inspections featuring metropolitan area public works demonstrating innovation with engineering, architectural or historically significant structures.
- Most of our lectures and field inspections are approved by the New York State Education Department for continuing education credit.
- Access to the Municipal Engineers Journal published on our website and includes presentations given over the previous period as well as the membership roster.
- The Annual Dinner Dance held in November that honors the Industry Leader, Engineer/Architect of the Year, Young Engineer of the Year, and Municipal Project of the Year awards. Scholarships are also presented at this prestigious event.
- Ad hoc programs to network, raise funds for scholarships and advance the industry.
