What is the Municipal Engineers of the City of New York?

The Municipal Engineers of the City of New York is nonprofit organization established in 1903 to:

• Promote and advance engineering and architectural disciplines in the City of New York, 
• Provide educational opportunities to elevate standards of proficiency of the technical services of the City, and
• Support networking and knowledge sharing among industry professionals and students through events, scholarships and sponsorships. 

Who are the Municipal Engineers of the City of New York?

Our members include both private and public sector professionals responsible for the planning, design, construction, and operations of New York City infrastructure. We welcome students, technical, administrative and educational professionals interested in participating in the advancement of planning, design, construction and operations of municipal infrastructure. 

What does the Municipal Engineers of the City of New York do?

A prominent Board of Directors and Past Presidents host events throughout the year including:

• Monthly technical presentations with continuing education credits
• Behind-the-scenes tours of public works projects (past examples include Croton Filtration Plant, Department of Sanitation Waste Transfer Facilities, East Side Coastal Resiliency Program, Design-Build at the Kosciuszko Bridge)
• Special events such as the Wimmer Memorial Forum and Reception and Annual Dinner Dance honoring the Industry Leader, Engineer/Architect of the Year and Project of the Year
• The Municipal Engineers Journal with a wide distribution including the National Library of Congress
